DPA past president, Sanmukh Batra is no more

Sanmukh Batra, the past president of Delhi Printers Association (DPA) and owner of Batra Graphics Machinery passed away on 19 July 2016.

Batra’s obsequies are scheduled today at the Sat Nagar Cremation Ground, New Delhi. Within minutes of the announcement of Batra’s death, his friends and industry veterans sent their tributes.

Dev Nair, past president of the All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), said, “I am very sorry to hear the demise of Batra. He was very supportive of all our AIFMP ventures. In fact there is a NAEP award in his name. Team BMPA (Bombay Masters Printers Association) joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences and we pray that his soul rests in peace.”

Vimal Jain, director at Grafik Machinery, said, “Batra use to print textbooks in his press. He started with a letterpress printing and varnishing job in Sadar Bazaar. Besides printing, he was well known for import of used offset printing machine in India. He sold thousands of printing machines all over India.”

Jain added, “He was the first person to import the machines. In terms of the number of machines, he was on top from 1978 to 1995. If I am not wrong about 40% of Indian print industry used his services during his working days.”

“Heartfelt condolences to Batra family and we have lost our great daddy. May his soul rest in peace,” said, Manoj Mehta of AIFMP.

SR Sharma, past president of the AIFMP and BMPA, said, “Sorry to hear the sad demise of Batra. We have lost a unique personality of the print industry.”

Tushar Dhote of Dhote Offset and president of the Mumbai Mudrak Sangh (MMS), said, “Heartfelt condolences from the MMS team on the sad demise of Batra, and we all pray that his soul should rest in peace.”
