Digital printing in the packaging market to cross USD 52-bn by 2027

According to a report by Future Market Insights, digital printing in packaging market which was valued at more than USD 11-bn in 2016 is estimated to grow at a rate of 15.3%, enabling it to cross USD 52-bn in revenues by the year 2027.

On a segment-wise basis, L T electrophotography was the largest, accounting for over half of revenue share by the technology type. In terms of revenues, this segment was valued at just over USD 6-bn in 2016, and it is projected to grow at CAGR of 16.6%, which will help it cross USD 32-bn in revenues by 2027.

On basis of the product type, labels came out to be the largest segment; accounting for more than 7.1-bn in revenues in 2016. Its estimated demand is set to increase at a CAGR of 16.7%, which will enable it to reach USD 38.44-bn in revenues.

The food sector remained the largest end-user of digital printing in packaging. According to the report, the demand for digital printing in packaging was pegged at more than USD 4.5-bn in 2016, which is expected to increase at a CAGR of 16.6% during the forecast period of 2016-2026.

The report further stated that North America, APEJ, and Western Europe were the three largest markets for digital printing in packaging. 

According to the report, APEJ will dislodge North America to become the largest market for digital printing in packaging, due to its increase in revenue share from 28% in 2016 to a whopping number of 40.7% by the end of 2026.
