Dhaka-based Union Accessories opts for Focus Tagtrans 225 kit

Union Accessories, which started its production in January 1999, is a manufacturer of heat transfer labels, woven labels, woven edge satin ribbon for printed labels, hang tags, price tags, photo card and many more for 100% export-oriented garments industries. The company caters to major American brands such as Jordache, US Polo Assn, Tractor Supply, and Love Ellen

The company is not only a supplier of trims to local garments, but also one of the very few label factories, which has direct export permission from the Government of Bangladesh. Presently, the company exports labels and tags to India, Pakistan, Madagascar, Egypt, Jordan and El Salvador on a regular basis for one of its American buyers to support its garments factories outside Bangladesh.

Ahsan Shahed Khan, managing director at Union Accessories, said: “In February 2020, we imported a brand new Focus Tagtrans 225 printing machine from UK. This machine offers single- and multi-colour halo-free transfers. It’s also capable of producing large prints for high production capacity. Servo drives in the machine provide accurate register control systems, thereby reducing waste. It is also equipped with new high capacity thermo controlled drying system.”

Meanwhile, Union Accessories has a slew of machineries at its shop floor. The company produces woven labels with Jakob Muller’s electronically controlled jacquard rapier looms. To support the production, the company has also imported computer-aided design system “MUCAD” from Switzerland. Presently the company has 11 rapier looms producing taffeta, satin and damask quality woven labels.

For label printing requirements, the company has flexo, nylo and automatic screen-printing machines along with other auxiliary machines. “We also produce different types of polyester and cotton ribbons, especially for woven edge printed labels for children using Mageba needle looms from Germany,” Khan said.

He said that the company had also invested in a brand new four-colour Komori offset printing machine, Enthrone 29, in August 2019 from Japan. “This machine is equipped with CIP-3 software programme to synchronise the design colour between CTP machine and offset printing machine. It helps to keep the colour consistency for repeat orders,” Khan added.

According to Khan, Union Accessories is the only local label manufacturers in Bangladesh, which has successfully completed the factory remediation phase by CAP Closure Verification Visit (CCVV) of Alliance for Bangladesh worker safety on June 2017. He also said that the company has also achieved the social compliance audit requirement of SEDEX, United Kingdom.

Khan further said: “The main strength of Union Accessories is its selection and combination of machines and people behind the machines. We are a local company with high product quality. Bonded warehouse facility has given liberty to our company to import papers and yarns directly from abroad as per buyer’s specifications.”
