During the event, the water-based laminating machine, which is specially designed to have an inline configuration with HP Indigo 20000 digital press, was presented to a group of 75 representatives from companies in the flexible packaging and labelling sector, from across 15 countries.

This development comes further to the HP-Comexi strategic partnership which was inked at Interpack 2014 with an agenda to develop a dedicated lamination solution optimised for the HP Indigo 20000.

“Joining the HP Indigo 20000 and the Comexi Nexus L20000 laminating machine is a qualitative leap for those flexible packaging converters who want to satisfy client demands and promote their business,” said Miquel Salvà, corporate business development director of the Comexi Group.

The company said the Comexi Nexus L20000 will make it possible to deliver a package in less than 24 hours, thanks to the fast machine set-up, and curing of the water-based adhesives. This implies a 60% time reduction with respect to conventional solvent-based and solventless technologies that might require a two to 14 day set-up.

The Comexi L20000 is perhaps the first dedicated end-to-end lamination and coating solution for digitally printed flexible packaging.

BASF is one of the partners in developing water-based adhesives for the kit.

Comexi Group will officially launch the Comexi Nexus L20000 at Labelexpo Brussels at the HP Indigo booth.
