Clariant Chemicals’ sales rise by 5.4 % to Rs 757-crores

Specialty chemicals manufacturing company, Clariant Chemicals India, has reported Rs 757.3-crores sales from continuing operations for the year ended 31 March 2020 as compared to Rs 719-crores in the corresponding period previous year – a growth of 5.4%.

The net profit stood at Rs 71-crores as against Rs 30-crores in the corresponding previous year. While the profit before tax grew to from Rs 11-crores to Rs 28-crores (158%).

Adnan Ahmad, vice chairman and managing director, Clariant Chemicals (India), said, “Our company’s strong bottom line and cash performance is a result of the continued momentum from our strategy to drive profitable growth while expanding our presence in the market with superior products.”

As Clariant’s manufacturing and trading activities were halted due to the pandemic induced lockdown, the sales from business continual contracted by 8.4% to Rs 169-crores as against Rs 185-crores from the previous year. “The prevailing situation with the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted our sales growth this quarter, and we will continue to look at ways to adjust to the new normal,’’ added Ahmad.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Clariant’s businesses include pigments and masterbatches. The company generated sales of Rs 9.84-billion for the year ended on 31 March 2019.
