Canon’s GS Dhingra informed PrintWeek India that two of its products on display at the show were crowd-pullers. “We introduced the ImagegrafPro series and the ImagePress C850, C750 and C650 during PrintPack India 2017. The ImagePress has always been a good story for us, and of late the ImageGrafPro too has been successful. We have risen the bar for quality standards with the two products,” he said.
On display was another product that was shown at PrintPack 2017 and showcased at an exhibition for the second time was the Oce ColorWave 700. “This kit was the biggest crowd-puller. It’s neither an inkjet system nor a toner. We call it the InkTonerPearl, a patented technology of Oce. It can print on any media.”
The Oce ColorWave 700, according to Dhingra, is capable of producing different applications in the wallpaper, floor designing, interior decoration, house décor segments.
The market for indoor wide-format presses is around 8,00 to 10,000 units per annum, and the 24x16inch aqueous inkjet market in which Canon is present with the Oce ColorWave is around 4,500 units per year. “This year we had phenomenal sales, and our market capture went up to 25% plus as against 15% last year,” said Dhingra.
According to Dhingra, the digital cut-sheet market is growing by around 15% in terms of unit sales. “We sold around 100-odd colour units and another 100 in the mono segment,” said Dhingra.
For Canon, the ImagePress 650 has been a successful kit with sales of 100+ units since it was unveiled at PrintPack India 2017.
