Bobst has announced its first finishing equipment installation in Nepal, with Maruti Group confirming the investment during Pamex.
The installation includes a Bobst Novacut 106 E 3.0 die-cutter and a Novafold 110 A2 folder-gluer, representing Nepal’s first Bobst finishing systems and Maruti Group’s entry into high-end mono carton production.
The machines will be installed at Maruti Group’s packaging facility in Nepal. Once fully operational, the new line is expected to increase the company’s overall packaging capacity by 20% to 30%.
Maruti Group chairman Dipesh Agrawal says the investment is part of a broader strategy to diversify beyond corrugation and establish a stronger presence in value-added packaging segments. “After corrugation, mono cartons were the natural next step for us,” he says, adding that after-sales service and regional support were key factors in selecting Bobst. “Having manufacturing and service support based in India gives us confidence in response times and spare availability.”
Founded in 2010 with Nepal’s first paper mill, Maruti Group expanded into corrugation in 2019, introducing automatic plant capabilities through partnerships with European suppliers such as BHS and Emba. The company now employs around 400 people and reports annual sales of approximately INR 100-crore.
Maruti Group supplies packaging to multinational FMCG brands, including Surya Nepal, Dabur Nepal, Britannia, Tuborg, and many more. Agrawal notes that Nepal’s printing and packaging market is growing at an estimated 10% to 15% annually, creating opportunities for capacity expansion and technology upgrades.
Following the Bobst installation, the company plans to enter labels and shrink sleeves within the next six months. Discussions are underway for equipment capable of producing both applications on a single platform, targeting demand from Nepal’s beverage and instant noodle sectors.
