The CorrBox Solution go is intended for simple glue application and replaces the company’s previous FFG go system. The new CorrBox Solution evo and pro come complete with integrated quality control and support multiple configurations for greater flexibility. The evo was developed for high-volume markets, in which high quality and maximum cost-efficiency are absolutely critical to achieving high production volumes. The pro meets the strict demands on flexibility and quality in corrugated packaging production, and it offers added functions, such as Slot and Bundle24, for special manufacturing requirements.

All three systems are built around the same tried-and-tested premium components from Baumer hhs for glue application, such as the PX 1000 multi-application head, the KPE 6 and KPE 9 adhesive pumps and the standard, intuitive HMI solution for simple and reliable process control.

“Our new and modular CorrBox Solution product family gives customers in the corrugated industry all the options they need to tailor gluing and quality assurance to their FFG applications more closely than ever before, both economically and technically – and to optimise their costs as a result. The same applies to our OEM partners”, said Thomas Walther, head of corporate strategy and innovation at Baumer hhs, explaining the decisive advantage of this updated product range.

The CorrBox Solution evo is the ideal choice for corrugated packaging manufacturers in high-volume markets who, for example, need precision glue application and end-to-end quality monitoring to produce shipping boxes. The evo is available in a one- or two-sided configuration, or combined with an Inverto unit that optionally applies adhesive from top or bottom. With its high-performance adhesive application, intuitive operation, end-to-end quality control and short setup time, the CorrBox Solution evo guarantees premium quality packaging. It is perfectly suited to folding box processes designed for maximum productivity and cost-efficiency.

The heart of all CorrBox Solution systems is the PX 1000 multi-application head. With its electromagnetic drive, it achieves high closing force and excellent start-up behaviour. Combined with Baumer hhs’s proven pump technology, the PX 1000 guarantees precision adhesive application from the first product on.

The CS 1000 sensor, developed specifically for the CorrBox Solution evo, also boosts productivity and cost-efficiency significantly. It precisely monitors every single strip of glue applied. Suitable for a variety of production environments, this exceptionally cost-efficient sensor functions in the visible optical range. It delivers optimum results when there is a distinct contrast between the packaging material and the applied glue. For example, even at maximum machine speeds, it reliably detects individual strips of glue on brown corrugated as well as blue-coloured adhesive on white corrugated. These two materials make up roughly 80% of standard folding box production.

The high-end PGD 1000 sensor, which pairs with the CorrBox Solution pro, is available as an alternative and for printed materials. The PGD 1000 functions in a specific spectral range, completely masks out the background and monitors not only the presence of adhesive, but also the quality of application, regardless of whether the surface is printed. “Our CS 1000 sensor is a cost-efficient solution that reliably monitors every strip of glue, making it ideal for most RSC folding boxes. Going a step farther, the PGD 1000 has virtually no limitations when it comes to quality control. If you process a variety of corrugated substrates and need maximum flexibility and precision, then this high-end sensor is the right choice”, says Walther.

And because pumps with two different power ratings are available, the CorrBox Solution evo can be configured to meet individual technical and economic requirements. The KPE 6 is a compact, highly cost-efficient pump for adhesives with viscosities of up to 5,000 mPas; the KPE 9 processes adhesives with viscosities of up to 10,000 mPas.

Both the CorrBox Solution pro and CorrBox Solution evo are equipped with an Xtend3 controller from Baumer hhs, known in the industry for its extraordinarily simple and intuitive operation. While the Xtend3 controller for the CorrBox Solution pro gives customers diverse options for applying and monitoring adhesive, Baumer hhs adapted its functions for the CorrBox Solution evo to meet the special needs of high-volume markets. The Xact controller for the CorrBox Solution go is designed for relatively simple gluing applications in folding box production.

All three CorrBox Solution systems incorporate the Glue Save Mode. This intelligent stitching technology reduces adhesive consumption by up to 50% without compromising on strength. In fact, tests have shown that edge strength even increases when adhesive is applied in stitching mode. In box compression tests, boxes remain stable even when adhesive application is reduced by 50%. Reduced adhesive consumption stronger boxes and lower costs: a threefold advantage for corrugated packaging manufacturers.
