At Drupa, the Netherlands-based firm launched its next generation 4-up and 8-up CTP UV platesetter, 460x and 860x for digital exposure of UV-sensitive offset printing plates along with the VLF CTCP.

While the VLF CTCP is set to make its Indian debut in December this year, the UV setter 860x series has marked its entry in the Indian market with installations at four firms across the country – Spectrum Imaging in Hyderabad; Softlink Scanners in Nagpur; and Japan Art Press and Replika Press in New Delhi.

The 460x and 860x series deliver resolutions of up to 2,400dpi, which according to Jain, positions is at par with the best available CTP device across the quality, reliability and speed domains. "We have been averaging about 40 units a year for the past few years and with the new launches, we expect a growth of about 15 to 20% this year. The technology is trending and will expedite its way in many firms across the country," said Jain.

"With a plethora of CTCP players, the Indian market will get trifurcated into three almost equal parts – thermal, CTCP and violet technology. This means big growth for CTCP in India," he added.
