CN Ashok, managing director, Autoprint, said, “Packaging printing seems very lucrative and most of the printers have entered into it, while others are planning to. Think well, prepare, and then act. Most of the printers want to tap big print buyers like ITC, HUL, P&G and others but who will provide services to local sweet markers? We want to explore this market for the packaging printers.”

Sanjeev Popli, director, Popli Graphics and an Autoprint representative, said, “We provide offline coating machines in two different models to enhance the print. UV coating is far better and economically viable as compared to lamination.”

Arun Gandhi, AS Print Aids, said, “Indian printers have to improve their finishing operations. The industry is waiting for general elections and hopefully the market will pick up after it. We also expect that the foreign direct investment (FDI) will be implemented in retail, which will boost the packaging segment.”

Ramaswamy of Autoprint, Sumit Chawla of Apex Die and Nitin Gupta of JK Laser Die, highlighted the benefits of automation in their presentations.

The event was attended by around 25 printers.
