The All India Printing Ink Manufacturers’ Association (AIPIMA) organised its 12th Asia Coat + Ink Show at Hotel Courtyard Marriott, Mumbai on 16 November, 2022. The theme of the show for this year's edition was 'Next generation ink & coating, printing technology, trends, issues and the way forward'. It had many experts from the industry and academia who highlighted various topics. 

The growing demand for next-generation printing inks for packaging has influenced the growth of the next-generation printing inks market. The initiatives for development of environmental concerns by governing bodies to adopt sustainable inks were discussed during the conference. 

The event started with the keynote address by Shailesh Nima, managing director, Michelman India. Then later followed by speakers like Jose San, manager, global business division, Toyo ink, who spoke about the 'Five proposals of eco-design packaging from the point of view of inks and coatings'. The sustainable and energy efficient inks for safe food packaging were presented by Rajesh Srivastava, senior vice-president, chemical business, UFlex. And also Amit Shah, managing director, Spectrum Scan who spoke about the post printing value addition.

The open-house panel discussion on sustainability made some important points and appeared to be the highlight of the event. The conference concluded with the presentation of Sagar Singh, deputy director, Bureau of Indian Standards, who spoke about the regulatory framework on printing inks and packaging in India.  

Under R Sridharan, president - AIPIMA, the new Asia Coat Committee has many industry leaders as members. He was assisted by Ravindra Gandhi, AIPIMA member, as chairman of Asia Coat + Ink Show and MP Raghav Rao as Chairman of International Conference. Karan Mahajan and Gaurav Sathaye convened the Asia Coat + Ink Show International Conference. The show was further supported by an advisory committee consisting of industry bigwigs like BB Sen, Vimal Mehra, RY Kamat, Zainul  Lakdawala and Ganesh Angne.

The next-generation printing ink and coating market is segmented based on product type, technology, and application along with end-use industries and regions. The growing demand for next-generation printing inks for packaging has highly influenced the growth of the next- generation printing ink market. It is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.24% for the forecast period of 2021 to 2028. With governments pushing for companies to adopt sustainable ink products, it has led to a positive growth of the next-generation printing ink market.
