Product of the month: Multigraf Touchline C375 Plus

A new creasing and perforation device aimed at light- to medium-production environments is making its India debut at PrintPack India 2019. The Touchline C375 Plus’ ability to perforate and crease in a single pass makes this multi-finisher stand out, says Uday Grover, managing partner, Gayathri Machinery, which represents Multigraf in India

What market is it aimed at?
The C375 Plus is designed to meet the needs of today’s digital print firms, where short runs and fast turnarounds have been a particular feature of digital printing since the start. These companies are keen to handle as many finishing tasks in-house as they can. By increasing the services on offer a printer has greater control of delivery times. Creasing and perforation are those capabilities that are commonly required in digital print finishing. Being able to do this in a single-pass is a virtue. It is targeted at applications including vouchers and coupons, tickets and reply cards.

When was it launched?
The machine was first introduced to the market in 2013 in Switzerland. At that time it was a regular creasing machine C375. In 2018, the C375 Plus model was launched with lots of upgrades and added functionalities. It will get its official India launch at PrintPack India 2019 in February, where it is the star attraction on its Indian representative Gayathri Machinery’s stand, according to Grover.

What does it do?
The Swiss-built C375 Plus is more than just a creasing machine. It features positive and negative creasing, and continuous or ‘timed’ lengthways and crossways perforating, with up to four perforating heads for crossways operation.

How easy is it to use?
It’s a really simple machine to operate thanks to the touch panel. The control system automatically creates settings based on the sheet length and paper stock detailes entered via a touchscreen panel.

How does it work?
As part of a product family, the C375 Plus can be extended beyond simple creasing of paper and card. First of all it can be extended with additional perforating tools allowing selective perforation in both directions. Secondly, the C375 Plus can be combined with the folding unit TF375 and thus enlarged to form a fully integrated creasing, perforating and folding machine. There are no manual setting procedures for the C375 Plus model. The machine is equipped with the Touchline vacuum feeder with a capacity of 180 mm.

Using a touchscreen control panel the creasing and perforating pressure can be matched to the paperstock being handled by the machine. The creasing and perforating tools can be exchanged easily in just a few seconds. It can handle paper stocks up to 400gsm for creasing and 300gsm for perforating.
The 6,000sph C375 Plus can handle sheets from 105x148mm to 375x1,050mm in weights from 80-300gsm for perforating or up to 400gsm for creasing. It features double sheet detection as standard.

What’s the USP?
Being able to do both creasing and perforation operation in a single pass is the biggest USP of the product. The crease depth adjustment can be automatically controlled via touchscreen. This machine is designed for easy and quick job changeover. It takes only 30 seconds to set up a new job and output the first sheet. Moreover, as it doesn’t require a separate air pump the operation is quiet. The tiny footprint of 1,850x600mm is an advantage, especially for Indian print firms.
