What does the machine do?
The MGI Jetvarnish 3D One is a digital spot-UV finishing machine that enables users to transform standard print jobs into engaging print products that are more vivid and tactile. It is designed for a compact, cost-effective, entry-level solution for all types of printers. Using an all-purpose patented varnish formula, it offers a full spectrum of 2D/3D spot-coating and dimensional textures for everyone. It allows flat 2D Spot UV highlighting and sculptured 3D raised special effects on various printing applications, such as book and magazine covers, brochures, business cards, small folding cartons, and more, ensuring and delivering powerful printed communications to customers.

Which are the different models?
MGI Jetvarnish family has various models, including JV3DS, JV3DL, JV3D Evo and JV3DW. JV3D One is a new model recently added to the MGI Jetvarnish series.

How do these models differ from each other?
All MGI Jetvarnish models are designed to perform different functions in line with various print applications such as digital printing, offset printing, packaging printing, and flexible printing.

When was the machine launched?
The Jetvarnish 3D One was launched at the end of last year in the limited international market. However, post its international success, Konica Minolta launched it in the Indian print market in August 2020.

What was the thought process when the machine was conceived?
After researching the evolving print market, we found that many Asian-specific customers aspired for cost-effective digital embellishment solutions. To cater to this growing demand, we introduced Jetvarnish 3D One and Accurio Shine 101 as an entry-level digital embellishment solution, which can be utilised by large digital and commercial print producers.

What is the target market(s)?
The key target markets include digital printers, short-run packaging printers, and commercial print embellishments.

What kind of substrates can it handle?
JV3D One supports various print media, like most matte or glossy laminated surfaces, with or without aqueous coating, layered paper, plastic, PVC, and other coated materials.

How fast is it?
JV3D One produces 2,077 A3 sheets per hour.

What is the USP of the machine?
This new press is the most cost-effective entry point into MGI’s complete series of sheetfed, digital print enrichment finishing presses. It utilises key components of the four times PIA InterTech award-winning Jetvarnish technology, including the intelligent and adaptive AIS SmartScanner registration system. This eliminates more than 80% of operator setup time spent on registration processes while also reducing makeready waste. The small operational footprint of the Jetvarnish 3D One allows printers, finishers, and converters to have a full in-house production and prototyping print embellishment system without screens, dies, or plates.

How easy is it to use?
The JV3D One follows an automatic and user-friendly operation process with least operator assistance. The automatic inkjet head cleaning technology, along with the AIS SmartScanner intelligent registration system, creates a simple, convenient path for developing new digital finishing applications and diverse new application-based revenue streams.

What training and support are on offer?
Konica Minolta has a technical team of committed engineers who provide instant technical support and assistance and a business development team that drives various BD activities and helps close good leads from the market. The company also has a dedicated training centre for the industrial print division in Gurugram, where product-related training is conducted for employees to provide them with in-depth insights related to various products that come under the Konica Minolta portfolio.

How much does it cost?
Interested parties can enquire through Konica Minolta’s official website, and the concerned business consultants would accordingly get in touch with them.

Installation numbers worldwide? How many do you expect to install in 2020-2021?
The JV3D One has been receiving excellent response from across the globe, especially during the current times. Although worldwide figures are yet to be published, we have marked our entry in India with the recent installation of our first machine in Delhi, in October 2020.

What JV3D One can or cannot do compared to the high-end version of the Jetvarnish series?
Jetvarnish 3D One was introduced in MGI Jetvarnish series family as entry-level digital embellishment solution from return on investment perspective. The small operational footprint of the Jetvarnish 3D One at affordable cost allows offset and digital printers to start their business expansion journey from the current competitive business landscape. The only difference between other series of Jetvarnish solution and 3D one is offline foiling option instead of single-pass operation. While 3D One conducts spot-coating application, the user has to pass foiling application print jobs through another offline device, Accurio Shine 101. All other features like artificial intelligence scanning for perfect registration, 2D and 3D spot-UV features, support to a wide range of substrate and smart varnish editing tool, remains the same.
