Using the oft-quoted Shiv Khera phrase – Winners do not do different things, they do things differently – is apt for the Noida-based label printer Any Graphics.

Spread over an area of one lakh sqft, Any Graphic’s superbly designed plant at Noida houses over 80 machines for designing, post-press along with several offset, and screen presses. The company’s in-house pre-press department is equipped to achieve 1% dot value.

“We have invested around Rs 50-cr in the entire set up. We believe that the place where you work makes you enjoy your work. The whole construction is based on 5S (sorting, straightening, systematic cleaning, standardising, and sustaining) methodology, and is maintained by a specialist company from Japan,” Naveen Goel, director, Any Grpahics, explains.

The winner of three global awards, Any is planning to introduce two-three revolutionary technologies in 2013. “Yes, there are certain innovations that are in pipeline. These are innovations, which have not made inroads to India. However, what these would be can’t be unveiled at this stage,” he shares.

Innovation and FDI
“Innovation is our key. We always want to produce something new for the market. Since we have different types of technologies at our printing facility, we often club them and produce something new for our customers,” says Goel.

However, he adds that a market for innovation is not a pre-requisite for ideating and innovation. “There is no market for value added services; you have to create it. We are lucky that we can convince our customers and explain to them what we can achieve for them.” He also believes that a market for innovation exists in the price conscious market. “Getting the premium cost is not easy. Only one out of ten customers is ready to do the same.”

He also has strong views in favour of international players in the country. “After the FDI, most of the smaller companies will be taken over by the big one; it can be Indian or multinational. At the end, challenges and competition will increase.” However, he also visions a day when companies would collaborate and join hands on project basis. “It would be great if various players can come together and then compete with other countries. I will be the first to join hands in that kind of movement. I have seen the samples of the winners of PrintWeek India Awards in 2012, and I am very confident that if few of the winners come together and compete, then we might be invincible.”

The only company in the country to win Global Awards for excellence in technical achievement in printing for the year 2004 and 2010. The winner of multi-process line, screen colour process category, offset line and tone category and screen line category of LMAI Avery Denison Awards 2012 also won PrintWeek India Label Printer of the year Award 2012.
