Adding value to fast-changing print and packaging industry

Starting good practices need not have to be hard. All you need is an understanding, and good tools, says Tushar Pande, director at Emerging Graphics in an interaction with Aultrin Vijay

Emerging Graphics is a Navi Mumbai-based software solutions provider catering to the printing and packaging sectors. Tushar Pande is the director at Emerging Graphics. Headquartered in Dubai, UAE, Emerging Graphics provides solutions and services for print, packaging and allied industries. 

The company, which started its operations in 2013, has notched over 41 installations in the past five years. With over 20 experienced professionals in various print processes, the company aims to add value in the fast changing requirements of the industry. Its Indian office is located in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, with sales professionals located in
Ahmedabad, Indore and New Delhi to serve their clients.

Emerging Graphics has three main products under its umbrella: EngView CAD software for packaging and point-of-purchase (POP)/point-of-sale (POS) conversion; Founder PaSharp software for managing graphic editing for packaging; and Iecho digital cutting system, POP/POS and industrial materials. 

EngView has been in existence since 1998 and Emerging Graphics started representing it since 2013 in India. Founder is in the industry since last three decades and Emerging Graphics is its partner since 2013. 

However, Iecho digital cutting system is one of its flagship products and has been in India since 2003. The company sealed multiple deals for its Iecho digital cutting system in the recently concluded Pamex 2020, held at Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai.

The company’s customers include packaging companies such as Nimbus Packaging, Vijayshri Packaging, Mondesso Packaging, Printmann Group, Dev Print & Pack, Weepac, Super Cartons, and many more.

EngView CAD solution for packaging
Explaining about the EngView standalone CAD software, Pande says, “It comes with European Carton Makers Association (ECMA) and European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) international standard library of designs. One can select a specific design and simply enter the dimensions to achieve the keyline as per requirement. It also manages 3D HTML file generation with print finishing effects to add value in cutting down the approval cycle.”

Pande claims that EngView is awarded by the European Association for its shortest learning curve.  The price of the software ranges from Rs three lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs, depending on the configuration. 

Graphic editing solution for packaging
Founder PaSharp Graphic Suite works on Adobe Illustrator to manage complete editing of artwork from raw file to print-ready files.
Pande says, “PaSharp is the most convenient way to handle packaging pre-press within Adobe Illustrator. With three days of training, PaSharp is an effective tool for pre-press operators.”  Prices for PaSharp range from  Rs 4-15 lakhs. 

Digital cutting solutions
However, Pande is upbeat about the Iecho digital cutting system range. “We have installed three small machines in India so far. If we talk about the bigger machines, we’ve installed more than 20 machines in India.”

Emerging Graphics has sealed at multiple deals for its Iecho digital cutters in 2020. The Iecho digital cutting system, a CNC machine, uses the keyline to cut a wide range of materials in desired shape. The product, according to the company, caters to the niche market segment where short run jobs are done.

According to Pande, the main USP of the machine is it can handle various materials on a single machine, from 400 x 600mm to 2,500mm x 4,300mm and even bigger. 

“It is simple to use as well. Onsite training is provided for each customer by our team,” he adds. The price for Iecho digital cutting system ranges from Rs 9-50 lakhs, depending on the configuration. 

“We provide pre-sales, sales, and remote support for our products. Our hardware engineers based in Mumbai and New Delhi manage the complete support,” says Pande.

Weepac

Surat-based print and packaging company Weepac has installed EngView software and Iecho digital cutter provided by Emerging Graphics.
Naimesh Naik of Weepac says, “We focus on providing value addition to the niche product market segment. We specialise in UV printing and cater to cosmetic, perfume and textile industries.”
The company also specialises in paperboard-PET combination packaging. It also provides structure designing solutions for different packaging.
Weepac has installed EngView with 3D HTML and print finishing effects. “We are very happy with the software. I think it’s the only software, which is able to provide solution for our needs in PET-paperboard combination packaging, including V notch,” says Naik. 

Dev Print and Pack
Based out of Ahmedabad, Dev Print and Pack is a printing and packaging company spread across 50,000 sq ft. Operating since 2005, Dev Print and Pack is the sister unit of Dev Offset. The company produces mono cartons and folding cartons for packaging. The company is managed by Samir Patel, and is assisted by his brother Chirag.

Commenting on EngView, Patel says, “EngView makes the keylines accurately and quickly, and it is very easy to use. The 3D feature helps to visualise the final product well in advance.”
According to Patel, the Iecho digital cutter is a stable machine with high accuracy. He adds, “The Iecho digital cutter helps us produce samples within short time with good quality. It is very useful to cut blanket to leave non varnish area in pharmaceutical cartons and other UV cartons.”  

Mondesso Packaging
Mondesso Packaging has been in the retail packaging space for more than two decades. It offers end-to-end solutions to meet the requirements of a supply chain. The company produces retail primary, secondary and tertiary packaging and specialises in corrugated SRP, PDQ and pallet/floor ready displays. 

Speaking about the benefits of EngView, Paulose Parakkadan, director at Mondesso Packaging, says, “The software helped us in packaging and display presentations wherein we were able to include 3D renderings, store views, assembly instructions, and container loading plans. The best feature is a quick 2D-3D toggle, which enables us to make changes in KLDs very easily.”
“The graphics module is a very useful tool. It helps us get a 3D view of the packaging, which we present the customer to give them an idea of how the packaging will look in reality,” he adds.

Printmann
The Printmann Group is in the business of providing high quality printing since 1987. The company offers both pharmaceutical and commercial printing and packaging. In view of growing demands, the company has two printing facilities – Printmann and Printmann Offset. Bipin Tanna (in the pic) is the founder and chief managing director of Printmann.

According to Printmann, with efficient pre-press software such as EngView and PaSharp Graphic Suite design software, they were able to work with top brands and cope with market demands and deadlines. “With the help of EngView package design software, we are able to prepare layouts in best efficient manner, save time and cost of the material, and achieve better productivity. Meanwhile, with PaSharp Graphic Suite, we are able to design cartons to meet customer  requirements such as shape, size, strength and easy formation for product filling,” said Tejas Tanna of Printmann.

Super Cartons
Super Cartons, which started operations in 1985, is one of Pune’s leading printing and packaging company. The company manufactures printed duplex/E-flute cartons, and labels, and engages in Met-PET printing.
