Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm Mall, who have announced several deep discounts on a range of products, will look to capitalise on the rush of new online users from the Jio push.

Talking to a leading publication, Anil Kumar, CEO of RedSeer Consulting, said, “This year is likely to be the biggest sales event in the history of online retail. With a much larger online user base, higher than ever exclusive product selection and likelihood of attractive discount across categories, this will truly be a bonanza of sorts for all industry stakeholders alike — sellers, consumers and eTailers themselves.”

According to RedSeer, 55% of overall sales would be generated by mobile phone sales. The report also points to a 40 to 50% growth in unique shoppers during the festive sale.

Paytm Mall in its inaugural festive sale would be spending over Rs 1,000-crore in marketing.

Flipkart, which is expected to take the major share of smart phone sales (53%), will start their five-day festive offers from 20 September while Amazon would host its sale between 21 September and 24 September. Amazon has opened a 400,000 sq/ft fulfilment centre in Hyderabad.
