The book was written to act as a resource for students and beginners in printing and graphic design. Readers of the book can learn how to use industry-standard software like Adobe InDesign and Photoshop to properly digital files and ensure accurate proofing. The guide also includes tips on printing technology and prepress technology equipping readers with practical skills.
The author, Muhammed Sheriff, who is also known as Sheriff Blathur has over eleven years in the packaging industry. He currently serves as the pre-press in charge at Balmer Lawrie.
Sheriff has prior experience in flexo, offset, gravure and digital printing and also has a strong foundation in colour management. He holds a BTech in Printing Technology from Calicut University and a certification in Packaging Science from the Indian Institute of Packaging.
“With the rapid development in printing technology come high barriers to access with course books being expensive,” he said. When Sheriff was a student, he recalls that textbooks were often as expensive as Rs 15,000. “Even our library only had limited copies.” This is what led him to document his insights and experiences into a guide that he believes will hopefully serve those in need.
