NBG Printographic Machinery is expanding its footprint in India’s packaging segment, with a fresh order from global retail solutions provider Mainetti for a fully automatic paper bag making machine at its Chennai plant. Bharti Aggarwal, director, sales at NBG Printographic Machinery, said the company is seeing balanced growth across its business divisions, with packaging emerging as a strong driver alongside labels.
“Packaging is a very growing segment and all our divisions are progressing at an equal pace,” she said, pointing to rising demand across rigid boxes, paper bags and label machinery.
Aggarwal confirmed that Mainetti, a global company with a diversified portfolio spanning packaging, product display and inventory management solutions, has opted for ZNEP-ZD450QXB paper bag machine. The installation will be at Mainetti’s Chennai facility, strengthening its local manufacturing capabilities.
“They have selected a fully automatic paper bag machine, the ZNEP-ZD450QXB, which allows both twisted and flat handle production in a single system,” Aggarwal explained. “This flexibility, along with an integrated stacker for compression and neat output, helps improve efficiency on the shopfloor.”
The machine is designed for a rated speed of 150 bags per minute, with practical operating speeds of 110 to 120 bags per minute depending on substrate and operator conditions. Aggarwal noted that converters are able to produce up to 1,00,000 bags per day with the system, making it suitable for large-scale retail and FMCG requirements.
NBG has been representing Znep in India for the last seven years. The investment aligns with a broader industry trend towards automation and cost control. Aggarwal emphasised that newer systems, including those with in-line inspection and rejection capabilities, are helping reduce labour dependency while improving consistency. “Automation allows better control over labour costs and ensures higher levels of perfection in output,” she said.
NBG’s engagement with Mainetti also signals growing traction in southern India, a market Aggarwal described as increasingly important for the company’s expansion strategy. “The South market has been very good for us, and we are acquiring new customers steadily,” she said, adding that the company plans to intensify its focus on southern and eastern regions in the coming year.
Alongside packaging, NBG continues to strengthen its label machinery – Starflex flexo press. Aggarwal said the company has introduced upgrades such as European manufactured gears and combined flexo and gravure capabilities in a single press, aimed at improving production efficiency and cost optimisation. “We are continuously upgrading our machines in terms of quality and performance,” she said. She added that export activity has also gained momentum, with installations in international markets including Africa.
Looking ahead, Aggarwal said the company is investing in expanding its sales and marketing teams to support growth across segments. “We have strengthened our team and will be focusing more on expanding our reach, particularly in regions where we see strong potential,” she said.
