India Post posts record INR 15,296-crore revenue in FY26

The Department of Posts has registered a landmark revenue of INR 15,296-crore in FY26, reflecting a robust 16% year-on-year growth, the highest in recent years.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the achievement as “historic,” highlighting the postal network’s transformation into a modern logistics and financial services provider.

India Post’s revenue surge was powered by parcels, mail, citizen-centric services, and savings products. Parcels grew 69% to INR 1,133-crore, with Jharkhand, Telangana, and Gujarat leading the charge. Mail services rose 34% to INR 3,202 crore, driven by Rajasthan, Assam, and Jammu & Kashmir. Citizen-centric services nearly doubled to INR 864 crore, with Delhi, Karnataka, and Rajasthan contributing significantly. *Savings Bank operations climbed 13% to INR 7,756-crore, while *Postal Life Insurance and RPLI grew 25% to INR 1,458-crore.

Over the past four years, India Post has added 11,000 new post offices, taking its total to 1,64,999. The expansion has been concentrated in rural and North Eastern regions, reinforcing the department’s role as the country’s largest last-mile service provider.

To sharpen its operational edge, India Post has introduced new leadership roles, including chief technology officer and chief marketing officer, supported by vertical-specific officers. Partnerships with e-commerce and logistics players have also bolstered parcel volumes.

India Post’s expenditure in FY26 stood at INR 38,631 crore (including pensions), with the deficit narrowing to INR 11,000-crore from INR 12,500 crore in FY25. Excluding pensions, expenditure was INR 26,559-crore. The department has set a target to bridge the income-expenditure gap fully within five years.

Scindia highlighted customer acquisition, service quality under Six Sigma standards, and the rollout of three new products as key milestones. He stressed that logistics, mail, and international business will remain focus areas to sustain momentum.
