“The Southern states have always been good to us and our market share from here is the highest in comparison to other regions, thereby any opportunity to meet our customers here and share knowledge about our product and services is always welcome,” said Balaji Rajagopalan, executive director, technology & channels, India and International Business, Xerox India.

The highlight of the stall was the Versant 180 and Versant 3100 which has replaced the popular Versant 80 and 2100 presses respectively.

“People ask us why the upgrade. It should be known that this is no mere version change but has almost 500 part modification to their predecessor. The aim is to significantly enhance print quality,” said Balaji. “The improved paper handling, latest Fiery DFE with a touchscreen are some of other enhancements which makes the presses much more robust.”

The Versant 180 is said to be capable of a duty-cycle of 7.5-lakh prints per month which the Versant 3100 can print 12.5-lakh prints per month. The EFI Fiery 180 Print Server NX Pro will drive the Versant 180 while the NX Premium will fire 3100’s prints.

Speaking about the global trend of a pause in digital press growth, Balaji said, “Though the global trend might show a slowdown, I can confidently tell you that Xerox’s growth has been in double digit and has shown no signs of slowing down.”

He pointed out that the market share of digital vs other press types is still in single digit and that digital in the long run is the only form of press that can compete with the growing demands of the industry.

“We have been implementing several successful projects for the book on demand requirements where our Nuveras have been greatly favoured,” said Balaji.

There are several new publishing trends like increased personalisation, in school books the concept of book of the month wherein a single book is printed every month etc., are being witnessed in the global market which digital and Xerox particularly can take advantage of,” he added.

The company also displayed their latest offerings of Xerox branded media which Balaji believes is part of their Make in India initiative.

“I think in line with many first that Xerox has offered to the market, we have begun offering our clients Xerox branded paper both coated and uncoated ranging from 130 to 300 gsm thereby further ensuring quality of output that can be achieved in our presses is consistent,” said Balaji.
