Vimal and Deepak Paliwal: Traditional flexo has evolved

The company is a partnership venture between the two brothers, Deepak and Vimal Paliwal, working out of a rented premise in Patparganj Industrial Area, New Delhi.

"Within a short span of installing a Kodak Flexcel NX system, we have not only diversified into flexographic pre-press, but also established a strong position in the market by serving customers," says Paliwal. "Such a swift change was an achievement for us at Flexon Graphics."

He says traditional flexo has evolved and can now match gravure-class quality. "There is a good response from our customers, who have made the transition with Kodak Flexcel NX technology. An important trend that we have reacted to is that of domestic brands wanting to upgrade their packaging and opting flexo to improve the shelf presence of their products."

Flexon Graphics, which started as an offset-only trade shop in 2003, gradually built expertise in pre-press, focusing on fundamentals of file preparation and colour separation. Over time, the company has been able to transition this in-depth knowledge and skill to tackle challenging jobs, including those that are currently on LAMS technology. "That helps us meet the ever-increasing demand for quality while controlling the on-press costs, due to better ink laydown and efficiencies from our Flexcel NX plates," he adds.

"We had an opportunity in aseptic packaging that was a typical gravure job. We were able to transition the job to flexo and retain the vibrancy of the packaging without any issues," Paliwal explains while describing one of his favourite jobs.
