The Bobst Expertfold 110 A2 is equipped with a flipper ejector system for ejecting all box types which don’t meet the quality control specifications. The machine is also equipped with a collection table. It is future-ready and equipped for inline Braille module and inline AccuCheck (inline quality inspection system). It can produce carton sizes from 76 to 1100-mm at the speed of 450-m/min for straight line cartons.
The folder-gluer is also equipped with all the features to run three-ply corrugated cartons (E, F & N-flute).
Sachin Gupta, managing director, Sain Packaging, said, “We installed our first Bobst Visionfold in 2015 and are happy with its performance. Thus, Bobst became a natural choice. The Bobst Expertfold 110 A2 is an advanced machine compared to the Visionfold and is equipped with a Baumer HHS gluing gun. The carton inspection and ejection system offers the speed of 450-m/hour. Since most of our clients are from the pharma segment, we needed that option.”
He added that as the company’s production increased, last year it installed a Heidelberg printing press which can print more sheets. Finishing was the segment where it was lacking. This was fulfilled by the recent investment.
Gupta established the pharma packaging company in 2004 on the suggestion of a family friend, with a single-colour offset press in Burari, Delhi. Gradually, Sain Packaging grew, and now it converts 400 to 450 tonnes of packaging boards per month in a 65,000-sqft production area. The total area of the plant is 2,025-sqm. “We can even produce 100 cartons on offset. And on the higher side, there is no limit,” Gupta said.
He added that having Bobst kits give a packaging printer an edge in the market. “When it comes to pharma packaging, it is growing well with demand for quality print production. Today, print buyers want quality boards along with print beautification and security features. They want UV coating instead of lamination,” he explained. “Braille is also in demand right now and we are planning to invest towards it.”
Sain has also established a semi-automatic three-ply corrugation plant to manufacture B, C & E-flute sizes. “We have upgraded our small and manual corrugation set up into an automatic one and are converting around 300 tonnes of kraft per month. Our corrugation set up includes a fingerless corrugation machine, double-colour printer slotter, automatic stitching machine and folder-gluer. A team of 45 people run the corrugation operation,” he said.
Gupta is optimistic of the future as the company is growing well. Last year, the company’s turnover was Rs 45-crore.
“Our further investment will be to make processes and operations smooth, at least for a year. Our printing is fast and advanced and we are synchronising other departments. Next year, we are trying to touch Rs 100 crore of business,” Gupta said. “We are converting around 800 tonnes (around 500 tonnes of duplex board and around 300 tonnes kraft paper) in our round-the-clock operation.”
Sanchit Gupta, director and the second generation of family-owned business, added, “We have purchased a 2.5-acre land in a nearby location for further expansion. We may invest more in land because as you grow, space becomes a constraint. We will diversify from pharma to other segments too.”
