Label Industry Global Awards recognises leading innovators in the label and package printing industry

The Label Industry Global Awards, which recognises world’s leading innovators in the label and package printing industry, has returned for 2022.

This year, a total of five awards will be available at Label Industry Global Awards. The awards this year recognise organisations and individuals who have excelled in the label and package printing sector in 2020 or 2021.

The top honour, awarded to either an individual or team, is the R Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award, supported by Avery Dennison. “In memory of Stan Avery’s pioneering spirit and values, this award recognises an innovation or idea that has helped transform and progress the label industry across the world,” the awards website stated.

In 2019, the R Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award was bestowed on Jim DeFife of Ohio-based Multi-Color Corporation.

Introduced at the 2019 Label Industry Global Awards in Brussels, the Rising Star Award, sponsored by the Label Academy, once again recognises the emerging talent of an individual starting their label and package printing career, with the potential of becoming a future leader. The criteria: nominees should have worked in the industry for at least five years and demonstrate a strong potential for appointment at the highest levels of the profession.

Robert Rae of UK-based GEW won the Rising Star Awards in 2019.

The Award for Innovation is based on size; one for companies with over 300 employees and another for those with less than 300 employees. Entries must be for the development of a specific innovation by a supplier or converter company in 2020 or 2021 and can either be for a new business process or technology related.

GMG and Esko received the Award for Innovation in 2019, whereas in 2018, it was awarded to RotoMetrics and Hamillroad Software.

The Environmental and Sustainability Award acknowledges a new sustainable product or process introduced by a converter or supplier company in the label industry in 2020 or 2021. Avery Dennison received the award for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019.

Andy Thomas-Emans, chair of the judges, said, "It is fantastic to see the label industry once again celebrating the creativity and pursuit of excellence which sets it apart in the wider world of print. Manufacturers continue to develop innovative products, which help label converters add value to their customers' brands. At the same time label converters' in-house teams continue to push the envelope on what is possible in terms of decorative techniques for branded goods.”

Entry is free and submissions must be received by 13 May 2022. Finalists, along with the winner of the R Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award, will be announced in early August. All winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on 13 September, the first day of Labelexpo Americas.

Entry forms and full details of how to enter are available at www.labelawards.com. The last date for submitting the entries is 13 May 2022.
