Heidelberg investment boosts Abhinav fortune

Abhinav Paper has installed a pre-owned six-colour Heidelberg with a coater to boost its notebook production. The factory which is located in Tronica City, adjoining Delhi will help the 16-year old company to be competitive both in the domestic and exports market.

Abhinav targets 1.25 crore notebooks with six-colour Heidelberg with coater

Abhinav Jain, founder of Abhinav Paper said, "We have installed a six-colour Heidelberg machine with a coater in order to produce 1.25 crore notebooks per month." Today the company creates many types of notebook products. Jain is proud of the growth. "Especially the production of centre-pinned notebooks with the help of three online machines. Today, we are able to produce three lakh notebooks per day."

Abhinav Paper bagged the second rank from the Uttar Pradesh state for exports in 2021. Today the company is working with mass retailers, Indian brands as well as, key players overseas. Jain said, "It's a continuous process. With each year, you succeed or fail. Point is, one needs to take corrective action in order to achieve best practice."

Today, Abhinav Paper is able to deliver 80 containers per month, and as Jain said, "each project has made us confident to achieve deadlines."

The 50,000 sq ft factory in Ghaziabad manufactures all types of paper stationery such as wire-o notebooks, spiral, sewing and perfect bound notebooks, counter notebooks, colouring notebooks, centre-pinned notebooks, hard bound notebooks.

The group's focus is on school and office stationery products. Jain said, "With time, notebook business has become seasonal as per academic session (each country has their own requirement months). Therefore it's necessary to have exports as well as domestic business in order to run the press 365 days."

When PrintWeek asked about the tech specs of the press, Jain said, "Our survey indicated a demand for six-colour in India. Today, packaging is growing at a healthy rate of 15% per annum. And this will continue to grow for the next five years at least." Jain added, "Along with notebooks, we are now diversifying into packaging. From April 2022, we will start the packaging business wherein a coater is an integral requirement for key sectors."

The press imported from the USA has been installed and sold by the Neeldhara team. Arjun Pandit, Neeldhara said, "It was a seamless and trouble-free installation at Abhinav Paper." Neeldhara is a third generation company in the printing and packaging industry and caters to Indian customers as per their needs and requirements.

Meanwhile the Abhinav Paper shopfloor is busy. Jain signs off, "Our trump card is our long-lasting association with customers. We listen to our customers, most patiently. We try to understand their quality expectations, delivery schedules and most importantly their price pain points. With volumes it's necessary to have a balance and understand how to adapt to challenging situations. Customer demand has helped us push ourselves to meet tough targets. This has helped our customers grow." And it has helped Abhinav Paper  grow.

Established in 2004, Abhinav Paper has focussed on manufacturing notebooks. With time and experience, the company scaled up from 20,000 notebooks to 400,000 notebooks per day.
