Gallus has launched the Gallus One press, making it a new addition to the company’s convention and hybrid portfolio of label presses.

The Gallus one is built on the Gallus Labelmaster press platform and comes as a 340-mm wide roll-to-roll UV inkjet digital inline label press capable of running at a maximum speed of 70-mtrs per minute at 1,200 dpi in four colours + white.

Available to pre-order, Gallus hopes to reinvent the way in which converters approach digital label printing – providing either a standalone digital offering or a complimentary service within a traditional analogue operation.

According to Gallus, while the Labelfire remains the flagship of the hybrid inline printing machine and will stay in the portfolio, the Gallus one, with automation features and efficiency, provides converters with an option in the digital label printing segment with an affordable standalone offering or a complimentary service with a traditional analogue operation.

“With the launch of the Gallus One, we are doing more than just bringing a new press to market – we’re providing a unique solution that can drive the next big opportunity in labels,” explains Dario Urbinati, chief sales and service director, Gallus Group.

In an interaction with PrintWeek/WhatPackaging?, Ferdinand Rüesch, anchor shareholder Heidelberg and senior VP global key accounts for Gallus, said that the Gallus One has been designed to remove the total cost of ownership (TCO) barrier for adoption of reel-to-reel digital labels with automation and cloud-based technologies. “The TCO is a view of the cost structure of a production where we lock the beginning up to the end of making a label. We start from the inventory stock, up to the point of delivery (includes everything financially productive, HR resource, footprint stocking inks, tooling storage, and platemaking handling). It really is everything which has an impact on production.”

The Gallus One has been jointly developed by Heidelberg and Gallus, leveraging Heidelberg’s ink testing laboratories to develop digital ink specifically for the Gallus One’s Fuji Dimatix printheads, integrating fully with Heidelberg’s cloud-based Prinect workflow software.

Dr Frank Schaum, who took over as the CEO of the Gallus Group in 2020 after spending over three decades at Heidelberg, said, “Gallus One is an important addition to our portfolio. It provides customers with a unique opportunity to pioneer a new and complimentary category of label service in the quest for significant business growth and differentiation.”
