Product of the month: Horda ZDH-700 collapsible box forming machine

Q: What does the Horda ZDH-700 do?
The ZDH-700 is an automatic collapsible box forming machine manufactured by Horda who are in the business since 2007. The machine produces three-dimensional boxes, but with a new concept. Currently, all luxurious packaging boxes are made in three-dimension box type, which occupies large space, is expensive and gets easily deformed and damaged during transit. Keeping this in mind, Horda’s R&D department proposed the design idea that two side surfaces of the box be made flexible, and thus developed this new collapsible box forming machine.

Q: What are the benefits of the new design?
Collapsible box made by this machine can be folded flat like a sheet of board. It occupies 80% less space than a three-dimensional box. This greatly saves transport cost and doesn’t get deformed/damaged during transit.

Q: When was the machine launched?
The machine was launched in April 2019 during Print China 2019 exhibition. In India, Horda Machinery Co has exclusively partnered with Zhongke India since last five years for sale, service and support of its machines.

Q:  Can you name a couple of brands which use these boxes?
All high-end luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Channel, Giorgio Armani Gucci, Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Victoria Secret Prada, Oakley, Burberry etc, are now using collapsible boxes for packaging of their products.

Q: What are the target markets for the machine?
From luxury brands to consumable products – apparels, quilts, jewelry, wallet boxes, cosmetics, board games, gifting, cutlery, liquor, confectionery, shoes, watches, glassware. The list is endless. It can replace the rigid boxes for taking minimal storage space and mono cartons by the sturdiness it offers.

Q: How does the machine work?
It has an automatic paper feeding unit for glueing which is equipped with an optical sensor for accurate placement. The automatic board feeder ensures the precise placement of the board pieces so the structure can fold and erect effortlessly. This is followed by the cladding/wrapping of the paper to complete the structure.

Q: What are the key features of the machine?
The machine is designed in such a way to ensure quality, precision, production and cost effectiveness. With the positioning error within 0.25mm, the machine produces very high precision wings for collapsible box to lay flat for transportation and re-storage. The machine is fitted with 12 servo motors to complete each production process with optimum accuracy and speed, unique insulated melting cylinders to maintain glue temperature that can save energy by 60%. Due to its unique production process, the raw material cost is considerably low as compared to the 3D rigid box. The product design helps save storage space and transportation cost.

Q: What is the USP of the machine?
The USP is its easy operation and precision. This machine adopts servo drive, photoelectric positioning, servo rectification, servo insert folding, and edge wrapping processes. The precise five-board placement is the most important feature of the machine. The functionality of the box is primarily based on this accuracy. It can automatically complete the process of paper feeding, gluing, cardboard feeding, positioning and edge folding. The whole machine adopts 12 servo systems which can accurately complete the required action of each process.

Q: How fast is the machine?
Depending on the size it can produce 15-25 pcs per minute.

Q: How easy is it to use?
With its user friendly interface, the machine can be easily run by a single operator It’s all computer-driven.

Q: What training and support is on offer?
Team Zhongke India, with its team of technicians, provides service and support for the machine in India. Zhongke India will be showcasing the kit at PackPlus Exhibition 2019 to be held from 28th-31st August 2019 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi

Q: How many Horda ZDH-700 machines do you expect to install in 2019-2020?
Launched just 3 months back, Horda has already installed six machines worldwide. Zhongke India has successfully installed a machine in Canpac Trends, Ahmedabad for collapsible box production and another will soon be installed at Shuban Prints – Jaipur.
