With the lockdown in parts of India completing more than two months, the president of the Advertising Agencies Association of India, Ashish Bhasin, has urged the government to relook at the suggestions made by the organisation last month.

In a conversation with Campaign India, Bhasin stated, "Weighted deduction for advertising while computing taxes, in order to incentivise clients to spend is very important to restart the industry and there has been no response regarding this from the Government."

He added that the Government has taken the other recommendations from the letter drafted to the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar in mid-April.

"Some refunds have started coming from the Government. We're seeing state Governments like Gujarat as well as some ministries from the Central Government clearing part dues. There has been some positive movement as the dues were ranging for the last 6-12 months, but a lot more needs to be done," said Bhasin.

The current lockdown in the country is scheduled to be lifted on 31 May.
