Tushad Talani, senior general manager-brand and communication at Epson India, said, “It’s an amazing product. A developmental prototype of the PaperLab was demonstrated at the Epson booth during the Eco-Products 2015, an environmental exhibition that took place in Tokyo in December 2015. Later in 2016, the PaperLab will be commercially launched in Japan.”

He added, “We would be looking to follow that by rolling it out to the US, Europe and the rest of the world thereafter, although there is no definite schedule at this stage.”

Epson has developed the compact office papermaking system capable of producing new paper from securely shredded waste paper without the use of water. Businesses and government offices that will install a PaperLab in a backyard area will be able to produce the paper of various sizes, thicknesses, and types, from office paper and business card paper to paper that is coloured and scented.

The abiding universal appeal of the paper lies in its simplicity as a communication tool. The information on the portable and always convenient medium of paper is easy to read and easy to remember. On the other hand, this essential tool is also produced from a limited resource. Epson is all set out to develop a technology that would change the paper cycle. With PaperLab, Epson aims to give new value to paper and trigger recycling.
