The eight-colour press is equipped with chilled impression roller that allows the press to handle unsupported film making it an ideal configuration to produce in-mould labels, informed Deepan Samarth of Sai Paks while speaking to PrintWeek India at the Mark Andy's booth.

Established in 2008, Sai Paks is an offset and flexo printing house with Heidelberg and Shinohara offset presses and Zonten stack flexo presses. It produces different types of speciality labels including security holograms and barcodes, and thermal labels, along with pharma cartons, leaflets, booklets and brochures.

The new Mark Andy is the company’s first horizontal line flexo press, which, according to Samarth, will be deployed for producing in-mould labels (IML).

“There’s a huge potential in the IML segment especially for the low volume jobs where gravure printing is not an economically feasible proposition. We evaluated several options on the market before we zeroed in on P5 for it fits the configuration that we were looking for and secondly, FIG’s approach, service support and customer handholding made it an easy choice,” added Samarth.

The machine will be installed at Sai Paks in November. This is the first P5 in Pune. Besides this, the company has also invested in Rotoflex Vsi inspection slitter-rewinder and Samarth is hoping to buy few more equipment before the show ends on 28 September 2017.
