“It is the first time when Dion has been opted by a digital printing production facility,” said CN Ashok, director commercial, Autoprint. The printing press manufacturing company has installed more than 50 Dion printing presses around the globe.

Perfact Color Digital Prints has been a digital printing facility since its inception and utilises high-end printing presses from Xerox and HP Indigo.  The company is a digital print specialist with capabilities for products ranging from VDP for banking and insurance sector, POD collaterals, photo verticals for personalised coffee table wedding books and specialised applications for manufacturing and health care industry.

Commenting on the decision to install an offset press, Ashwani Arya, managing director, Perfact Color Digital Prints said, “Offset is a new segment for us but the support from Autoprint made it a cakewalk for us. We have commissioned the printing press to fulfil the gap between high-end offset printing and digital printing.”

Perfact has been taking up stationary printing using offset technology for a selected few of its clients. However, for the same, the company had to rely on outsourcing the job to jobbers. Last year the company spent more than Rs 14 lakh on transportation only on outsourcing the jobs.

“Since the installation we are using the press on 100% utilisation. I was neither  comfortable with the quality of pre-owned offset printing presses available in the market nor the kind of investment a brand new high-end press required. Many of my close friends suggested me against Indian machines. But these printing presses really opened our eyes. We are printing pre-fabricated envelopes, pre printed stationary and books for insurance company on this machine,” he further added.

Perfact is equipped with iGens, DC 7000, DP 180s, Nuveras, HP 5500; plus, software from XMPie, GMC and FreeFlow. In addition, it is powered by post-press kit from Morgana, Kern, Welbound and Rhonituff. The company registered a turnover of Rs 50-cr this year with its single production facility.

“We want to be the market leader in the industry by delighting our customers with innovative products and technology. Dion is a result of our efforts for economical printing press and we offer return on investment (ROI) in three years. We want to install a machine in every district of the country. We share customers’ feedback with our designing team and asked the team to modify according to it. Fifth unit is under consideration and it is the result of customers’ feedback,” added Ashok.

Arya shares that Autoprint helps them in every stage of adapting to the new machines. “They trained our operators in their manufacturing plant and provided a full-time machine operator at our facility. Since it is a learning curve for us, these installations gave support to our sales team as well. Now our team can offer offset jobs also,” he said.

He insists that most of the print buyers do not care about the printing process; they want their jobs in time and in their budget. He suggested that every digital printer should opt for offset printing presses. “These presses brought our wastage from 4% to 0.25%; this a huge saving of paper and directly benefited in revenue. Nevertheless, we do not see offset as a tool of growth. Offset requires a different kind of finishing equipment.” he added.
