According to OPA, the three awards were given away to personalities from the three fields of - printing industry, print education and printing journalism as these are considered the three pillars of the industry.

B K Kuthiala, the vice chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal, the recipient of Print Rattan, was responsible for initiating printing and packaging courses at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hissar and Kurukshetra University. He was awarded for his efforts of promoting and contributing services to printing and packaging education.

The Print Bhushan was conferred on Dhanvi Rasiklal Shah, managing director, Marvel Graphic Studio, Ahmedabad for his specialised skills in screen-printing technique that transformed the original painted masterpieces into more affordable art. The brilliance of printing made the arts look like originally painted arts, making it difficult to differentiate the painting from the printed product. These reproductions have been auctioned at international auction events and are privately owned by many museums and art patrons, thus giving screen printing a new sphere.

Narendra Parmar, managing editor, Printing Samachar, Ahmedabad received the Print Shree award for his work to promote printing and packaging industry in Gujarat. It was his initiative to harness the resources of printing and allied industry with a knot of news and latest information and is the only regional language magazine devoted to printing and packaging industry.

The award ceremony, which was held on 23 December, 2012 at Park Plaza, Ludhiana was attended by printers from more than 41 cities in the country.
