Speaking to PrintWeek India, Peter Eriksen, chief operating officer for Nilpeter, said, “This is the first time Nilpeter is showing only one machine, that’s because we want to focus on this new product line we have launched.” He added, “This is the answer to the latest digital question from our world. It’s a UV inkjet technology and is presented inline with the Nilpeter converting line.”

The Panorama DP-3, is a single-pass 600dpi press using piezo printheads with four-level grayscale imaging. A minimum droplet size of 3-picoletres allows small-dot halftones.

The Panorama uses the Equious workflow from Screen and its own workflow called the Powerlink on the converting part, to what Nilpeter claims a perfect registration of print jobs. “We have a full integration of the system, so when you are printing in digital, the system is already picking up details and is communicating with the next unit, even before the print reaches that position, including the die-cutting unit. That reduces waste tremendously,” said Eriksen.

The Panaroma has a maximum printing width of 322mm on up to 350mm wide web. It prints up to 50m/min using paper or filmic label laminates from 90 to 350microns. High definition UV inks are used for CMYK, with an opaque white ink as standard for printing transparent films and metallic foils.

Nilpeter has adopted several of its inline converting modules to digital production. This includes a web infeed, varnishing unit, the QC-die-cutting system, a stripping unit, length slitting, and dual rewind. A mark sensor allows re-inserting of webs for reverse printing or overprinting of pre-printed webs, including variable data.

“We still believe in the concept of inline converting when we speak digital, supplementing the entire process,” concluded Eriksen.
