George Mathew, director, Insight Communication, said, “In the northern part of Kerala, a press meet was conducted on behalf of Premier Printers, Calicut to announce the installation of the Komori Enthrone 429. We had gathered to make a direct connection with end customers and print buyers in the northern parts of Kerala. The idea was to instill faith in the customers about how they can have a satisfying return; with a better outreach."

According to Mathew, "the Komori Enthrone 429 is the first brand new machine to be installed in the northern part of Kerala." He said, the Kerala has more than 70 second-hand presses but now "a phase of new presses has begun."

Other than Premier Printers in Calicut, the installations also included a Komori Lithrone A437 at St Joseph Orphanage Press, Changanacherry, Kerala.

In addition, a Komori Enthrone 429 has been installed at the Orange Press in Trivandrum and a Komori Enthrone 426 at Five Star.

K P Sabu, managing director of Five Star Offset Printers, Nettoor (near Ernakulam) has invested Rs 2 crore in the recent upgrade. Sabu said, "I wanted a demy-size machine to do short-run jobs because we had plenty of such type of print works coming in." He stated, "I opted for a Komori to suit the smaller dimension paper of demy size. The Enthrone 426 is a perfect one for short-run jobs. Plus, the fact that Komori has sold the maximum number of machines in Kerala in the recent past, proves its popularity."

The Kochi-based Five Star Offset entered the packaging space by acquiring Bobst’s Novacut 106E die-cutter and Visionfold 80 folder gluer. Started in 1991, to cater to the marketing and communication industry in Kochi, Five Star epitomises the new profile of packaging player, and has established itself as a key player in Kochi’s print market.

There is one more Kochi-based print firm who prints on a Komori. These include: Viani with a Lithrone 426 four colour press and a Kodak CTP Trendsetter which have been installed six months ago.
