The highlight of the show for the Indian packaging industry will be the India pavilion at stall 7A 36 B25. The 'India pavilion' is an initiative by the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP) under the funding of the Indian Government to represent the Indian packaging industry on a global platform.

“The initiative was initially started by IIP in 2011 on a small scale but in Interpack 2014, there will be two India pavilions of 490sq/ft area each; one for the Indian packaging machinery manufacturers and the other for the Indian packaging materials manufacturers,” said N C Saha, director, Indian Institute of Packaging.

The India pavilion will feature major Indian exhibitors like Specialty Polyfilms, Nichrome (India), Pakona Engineers, Hindustan Adhesives, and Hindustan Tin Works among others. The packaging megashow, as the organisers title it, will have 2700 exhibitors from 60 countries exhibiting products ranging from packaging components, feeder systems, dosing and controlling machines, moulding machines etc.

The show has four concurrent events. These events include a two-day 'Food Congress' to explore the aspects and solutions to reduce global food loss and food wastage, 'Components for Processing and Packaging', staged for the first time in 2014, which will act as a supplementary exhibition for the companies engaged in drive, control and sensor technology, industrial software, etc. The third in line is the 'InnovationParc', a platform to present practical approaches from areas such as packaging design, packaging materials etc.,  and 'Metal Packaging Plaza, a meeting point for international metal packaging community and its supplier industry.
