70 Indian exhibitors gear up for Interpack 2014

Interpack 2014 will be the twentieth edition of the exhibition which is held every three years. Organised by Messe Dusseldorf, it will be held in Dusseldorf, Germany from 8 to 14 May 2014.

To promote the exhibiton, Messe Dusseldorf India held presentations in Mumbai and New Delhi to provide an insight into the packaging and processing markets of the world.

Werner Dornscheidt, president and chief executive officer of Messe Dusseldorf and Friedbert Klefenz, president of Bosch Packaging Technology, Interpack 2014 president and chairman of packaging council a division of Robert Bosch, were the key speakers during the Interpack presentation in Mumbai. Dornscheidt gave the crowd a glimpse of what to expect at Interpack 2014, the trends and focus of Messe at Interpack 2014 edition. Klefenz presented on the rising demand for modern packaging and gave an insight on trends and challenges in the confectionery, pharmaceuticals, beverage, bakery and food products.

Dornscheidt listed out the number of exhibitors from each packaging fields. Speaking about the Indian exhibitors he said, “We have around 65-70 exhibitors from India geared up for the expo and are expecting to see more coming through presentations like these.”

The Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), a premier packaging institute head quartered in Mumbai will be setting up an India pavilion at Interpack 2014.

N C Saha, director IIP, said, “At Interpack 2014, there would be two India pavilions of 490sq/ft area each, one for Indian packaging machinery manufacturers and the other for Indian packaging materials manufacturers.”

Klefenz emphasized on the statistics of the packaging market around the world. “Asia has emerged as the second most important sales region with a share of 22 percent in 2012 due to the impetus of developing industries and modernisation.”

“The booming economies of China and India further strengthen the packaging sales in Asia,” he added.

Interpack 2014 is lined up with four parallel events to offer the visitors innovative special topics alongside the extensive range of offerings provided by the exhibitors. 

Food Congress a two day event will explore the aspects and solutions to reduce global food loss and food wastage. Components for processing and packaging staged for the first time in 2014, the event will act as a supplementary exhibition for the companies engaged in drive, control and sensor technology, industrial software etc.

InnovationParc event will present practical approaches from areas such as packaging design, packaging materials etc. and Metal Packaging Plaza, a meeting point for international metal packaging community and its supplier industry.

Acoording to Messe Dusseldorf, the previous edition of 2011 had 2,700 exhibitors participating and a footfall of 1,65,000 visitors who got to experience one of the most successful exhibitions ever for the packaging sector and related processing industries.
