In order to augment its product portfolio, Goodluck, a publishing house has opted for a press which it says shall double their production capacity.

"The machine has a speed of 10,000 sheets per hour. It has helped us increase our production and efficiency," said Ashok Kumar, managing director of Goodluck Publishers.

"Heidelberg's excellence is not a secret, its superior service and trouble-free availability of spare parts were the factors that helped us zero down on the machine," said Deepak Agarwal, the production director at Goodluck Publishers.

The firm accommodates the publishing needs of educational syllabus like CBSE and ICSE. Also, the firm caters to the requirements of the Nepal government and the Middle East.

The unit was commenced as a book publishing unit in 1985 by Kumar. In 1995, the company opted for a printing set up to produce its in-house quota of books. These days, the firm is working in close collaboration with publishers in Greece.

Kumar's two sons, Deepak (who joined the firm in 1992) and Ankit Gupta (who joined the unit in 2008) assist him in managing the firm. Ankit is a printing and publishing graduate from London and is briefing the team with innovative ideas and methods.

"We were trained on Heidelberg machines as they are the finest. In fact we are considering a complete shift to Heidelberg in the future," said Ankit.

In addition to the eight-colour Heidelberg press, the unit is well equipped with two Heidelberg four-colour, an Akiyama four-colour, one HMT two- colour and single-colour, plus a Super Variant. In addition, there is a binding unit which includes a Flowline and a nine-clamp perfect binding machine from Muller Martini which are boosted by five Stahl folding machines. The pre-press department includes a plate making unit with an average consumption of 150 plates per day.

Goodluck Publishers operates out of two units, with a total area of 4,500 sq ft and 150 employees.
