The digital converting machine has been developed in a joint project with Heidelberg and FujiFilm. The pre-press expertise of Heidelberg, the inkjet head from FujiFilm and Gallus’ inline production capabilities have combined to what Gallus says, is a game changing label press.

The press is powered by Prinect and, as the front end, solves the challenges of printing either the digital or flexo or both, including matching quality. The Prinect helps this eight-colour press including white helps in one pass printing.

“This market-revolutionising digital production system is now fine-tuned to offer label printers everything they could hope for, be it the added value cold foil on the wrapper of the chewing guy or industrial barcoading data, and additional cold foil underlay, which has to be digitally printed, short characters, a full Pantone gamut with CMYK and green, orange and violet inks, an overprint varnish before the label is die-cut, plus more,” said Samir Patkar, managing director, Gallus India.

The DCS is a UV inkjet press with a native resolution of 1,200dpi, a speed of 50 meters per minutes.

Gallus confirmed that it has already signed 10+ contracts for this digital flexo press.

During the morning session, Gallus also unveiled the new features on the ECS 340, its most popular press, which has seen over 200 installations worldwide. “The addition of the new high-performance matrix stripper gives the Gallus ECS 340 an extra feature that further boosts this machine’s productivity and cost-efficiency,” said Patkar.

Gallus also showed the ramped up RCS 430, which will not be equipped with a control platform and a new UV drying solution for varnishing and the Gallus Screeny A-line. “The enhancements like fine lines just 30 µm thick can already be printed using high-precision screen printing with Gallus Screeny. Such innovations will also benefit label printers,” said Patkar.

Gallus also announced the Gallus Innovation Days in September next year. “We have started a huge investment programme, and at that time we will come up with the next rocket,” said the Gallus representative, while closing the media briefing.
