It is the first Flexcel NX to be installed in North India.

Shailesh Garg of Bwin Digiflex said, “Up surging market demand and the need for new technology were the key reasons for the Flexcel installation.”

The regional market relied upon few pre-press houses in Chandigarh to suffice the requirement of plates and films and at times outsourced it from Delhi and Mumbai until recently. “Lately, few CTPs have been installed in the region but the kind of technology and capabilities that Kodak offers through Flexcel is the first in the region,” added Garg.

The Flexcel NX system and Prinergy Powerpack software enables prepress and production of digital flexo plates, thermal offset plates, and DITR films for analogue flexo plates.

Abraham Prabhakar, general manager, national business manager – packaging segment at Kodak said, “The award winning Kodak Flexcel NX digital flexographic system uses the thermal imaging layer in conjunction with flexo plates. This layer is exposed on a Trendsetter NX imager with Kodak Squarespot imaging technology. After imaging, it is laminated to a Kodak Flexcel NX digital flexographic plate using the Kodak Flexcel NX laminator. The quick and simple lamination process removes all oxygen between the layer and the plate, and results in the creation of high-quality, full amplitude, flat-top dots.”

The new feature, Digicap NX improves ink transfer deliver enhanced print quality, as well as production efficiencies, allowing flexo platemakers to more easily mix areas of solids and halftones on the same plate. Additionally, the new feature helps to reduce set-up time on press with plates that come to color more quickly.

“Extensive trials in the flexible packaging market have yielded excellent results. Customers have been delighted with the gravure-like appearance of the solid areas and amazed that they can now enjoy higher ink densities while still maintaining the finest highlight detail,” added Prabhakar,

Bwin Digiflex, which was established by Shailesh Garg, and his brother Manish Garg in April 2012 is a sister firm of Baddi-based SMC Packaging.

Bwin has planned to conduct an open house at their facility to demonstrate the working of Flexcel NX system somewhere around the Labelexpo India. “The open house is targeted to get our present and future clients on a common platform, interact with experts, discuss the technology, see the system run live and have the actual feel of its vast capabilities,” concluded Garg.
