Avery Dennison boosts its production capacity with new plant in Pune

Avery Dennison India, the manufacturer of pressure sensitive label and packaging materials has completed a major expansion plan at its plant in Pune. To enhance its production capacity, Avery Dennison India has built new 1,00,000 sq/ft plant adjacent to its old plant.

The new plant is equipped with a brand-new line of high speed materials coating machine from Germany.

Anil Sharma, managing director label and packaging materials at Avery Dennison India, said, “Our customers across India and South Asia have been our primary focus since we first established operations in 1997.

By expanding our manufacturing plant in Pune, we will be able to better serve the increasingly discerning requirement of this fast growing market.”

Till date Avery Dennison has invested more than 55 million US dollars in its Indian operation and has plans to establish an Innovation Centre in Pune and a Knowledge Centre at Bengaluru which is expected to start in Q2 of 2012.

Sharma said, “The Innovation Centre will primarily focus on the development of products for the Indian market. It will provide dedicated research and innovation development services for Indian converters and original equipment manufacturers, while simultaneously providing growth opportunities for India’s pressure sensitive labeling industry.

This Innovation Centre will be the third of its kind after US and China and is expected to be operational by mid-2012.”

Sharma added, “The Knowledge Centre is intended to provide training and knowledge transfer on all major aspects of labeling technology from label production materials to pre-press, printing and converting.

It will address the business dimensions such as coating and inventory management to deliver effective knowledge sharing which will help the growth of industry across South Asia.”

Avery Dennison India has sales and distribution centres which includes facilities Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The company has more than 1,200 staff in India.
