The focus paired MGis’ digital production colour press series, the DP Pro with the JetVarnish at the recent PrintExpo 2011 held in Chennai.

Mumbai-based Aura launched the digital JetVarnish a year and a half ago in India. "Digital is here to stay and widen its presence every quarter" said V Natarajan, managing director at Aura. "Though the volumes are still with offset, today the number of jobs done through digital has grown many folds."

According to Natarajan printing of commercial jobs are being considered as raw material. Action is needed for value-addition, which can bring in extra revenue. With new business trends emerging, there is a demand for high quality products, which will have a good market.

Natarajan said: "Value addition is the key. It is necessary to improve product quality by adding value to ensure continuous increase in demand and JetVarnish is a perfect foil."

MGi JetVarnish offers short-, medium- and long- runs and allows for fast startup without plates, screens or waste, capable of coating economically 1 to 5000 sheets and integrates UV curing.

"After printing the four-colour document on the press of your choice – digital or offset – adding spot varnish is easy. Simply add a fifth colour through DTP, highlighting the areas where the spot effects should be," said Natarajan.

According to Aura, MGi has installed 80 JetVarnish machines worldwide. The other MGi digital products Aura represents are the Meteor DP Pro series, JetCard and Digital Finsher 360.
