Top installations of the past 60 days - India spends on new kit

We've compiled the top most installations for your edification. Full of new presses, new names, new centres and hope - but is your favourite in there?

It’s all about investment and the good news is, investments in new equipment have been on the rise from the past few months. This is a good sign for the Indian print industry. If you have invested and added a new kit - then check if your company is listed in this list.

  • Newspaper giant Malayala Manorama has confirmed investment for 13 towers of the Smartline 4x1 double width press from Manugraph for multiple centres across Kerala
  • Noida-based Uflex invested in a Comexi Futura during the K exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany. The exhibition, dedicated to the rubber and plastic industry, took place from 19 to 26 October 2016
  • Mumbai-based TCPL Packaging has signed a deal with Heidelberg India to buy two brand new MK 1060 YM foil stamping and die-cutting machines manufactured by MK Masterwork Machinery, Heidelberg’s joint venture partner
  • Since Hyderabad-based Silver Prints installed a VisionFold folder gluer from Bobst in April this year, the company said its conversion of folding cartons has increased up to four times
  • In one of the biggest hardware, software and service agreements concluded at Drupa 2016, Essel Propack will equip all of its major plants located in 14 locations globally with Esko’s pre-press, design and packaging management solutions
  • Hyderabad, the city of Nizams, seems to love Bobst post-press equipment. And why not, as Vijay Varma, director, Arunodaya Print Pack, one of the major pharma packaging firms in the city, explained, “Bobst has a good service team, and spare parts for Bobst equipment are easily available.” The company’s recent Bobst acquisition is the folder gluer VisionFold 110 A2 with 4&6 corner attachment getting installed in December 2016
  • HP Indigo 10000
    Delhi-based photo book expert Bright Digital Printers has invested in a HP Indigo 10000 digital cutsheet printing press, which started its production in September 2016 at its Sahibabad facility
  • Digital print specialist Titu Document Centre in Jaipur became the first in India to install the HP Indigo 7900. The machine was inaugurated on 28 October 2016
  • Shree Printwell Offset has installed the second Indigo 7900 in India, however, the company claimed that it is perhaps the first in India to install the HP Indigo 7900 in the photo book segment
  • Amravati in the heartland of Maharashtra boasts of India’s first and only RMGT 760E four-colour press at Amar Offset Printers
  • Meerut-based publisher of children's and guide books, Children Choice Publication, has installed a four-colour RMGT 924 ST press enabling the firm to a broader service approach. The 1996 established firm at present has a collection of 4,000 book titles, which it used to outsource before the RMGT 924 ST was brought in
  • In a bid to boost its green credentials, the Hyderabad-based wide-format printing firm, Macromedia Digital Imaging, has installed EFI Vutek GS3250 LX Pro
  • Bawana-based Maa Reprographics has installed a very large format (VLF) CTCP DX 1700 Eastcom by Fujifilm and 165 Bora plate processor from Belgium-based manufacturer Heights. The firm, a partnership venture between Masoom and Pankaj, was established a month ago
  • Jammu-based Jai Print Tower have equipped their unit with Kodak CTP Trendsetter 800. The Trendsetter, one of the popular CTP system from Kodak can expose plates to a resolution of 2400x1200 dpi and has a throughput of 42 pph with its auto-loader feature
  • Kolkata-based Santi Udyog installed the city’s first Autoprint Repetto 65 V2, an automatic sheet-fed flatbed die-punching and creasing machine
  • Kolkata-based HS Laxmi Graphic Innovation has invested in a Konica Minolta Bizhub C1085 press to meet the growing demand for high-volume jobs
  • Navi Mumbai-based Rukson Packaging equipped its pre-press unit with Esko's Kongsberg XE10 sample maker and Esko’s pre-press workflow. With this investment Rukson is moving ahead with its goal of becoming a full-fledged packaging specialist from their offset business
  • Thiruvananthapuram-based digital printing company, Digital House, has added a Canon ImagePress C10000VP to its portfolio in July. Since the installation, the company has already printed more than three lakh sheets
  • Bengaluru-based Techno Offset Printers (TOP) recently invested in a Canon ImagePress C10000VP digital cut-sheet printing press. A Canon loyalist, KS Madan Mohan of TOP said, “Canon is a tried and tested brand for us. We bought our first Canon machine in 2008, a Canon 7000. Quality assurance, premium feeling in printed material and minimum rejection were among the few reasons to make the purchase. The earlier machine gave us confidence to invest in the new Canon press.”
  • Zund machine
    Recently, the Swiss-based Zund tables has been installed at Nextgen and Exquisite in Kolkata, Metro Merchandising and Ashok Punch Arts in Mumbai, Shejwalkar in Nashik and Micro Prints in Chennai
  • Manipal Technologies has strengthened its pre-press by opting for the Screen Platerite HD 8900N-Z, a thermal platesetter from TechNova. The CTP which boasts of high productivity and with speeds of up to 70 plates per hour is India’s first installation
  • Many print firms prefer to have an in-house screen printing rather than outsource print finishing work. A case in point is the Kolkata-based Nextgen Printers who have installed a Grafica fully automatic Cylinder Press with inline UV and complete screen making set up at their new printing unit in Howrah
