Workers at ITC call off strike

ITC's Haridwar manufacturing plant workers who were on strike following suspension of a worker, have resumed work after a District Magistrate intervention.

The strike was supported by the company's various trade unions. The striking workers held a series of protest demonstration on the six days of no work causing unsavoury situation for the company.

A magisterial inquiry into the suspension of the work has been ordered under a settlement. Besides, the management has also agreed to give all workers an 8.3% bonus and advance for the festival season.

ITC is expanding its manufacturing facility in Haridwar with an investment of Rs 300-400-crore. It would also be expanding its consumer and food item business.
