Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Scancode operates across pharma, FMCG, cosmetics, automotive and agrochemicals, and already runs flexographic, offset and gravure platforms. The move into digital is designed to address growing demand for short runs, multi-SKU jobs and variable data requirements.
Mitesh Patel, managing director of Scancode, said the division reflects a strategic commitment. “Imprenta is our vision for the future of packaging — fast, flexible and uncompromising in quality. The Domino N610i-H Hybrid is the technological backbone of this vision, enabling us to deliver results across labels, shrink sleeves and flexible pouches,” he explained.
The hybrid press combines Domino’s inkjet platform with flexo stations for priming and varnishing, giving converters the ability to manage both short-run specialty work and higher volume production in one line. According to Patel, this ensures flexibility, faster turnaround and cost efficiency.
Ajay Raorane, vice-president for digital printing solutions at Domino Printech India, said the decision was made after Scancode evaluated both the market opportunity and the technology. “The customer had to cater to short-run and variable requirements that were challenging on flexo. They evaluated the numbers and confirmed the value of digital in meeting those needs,” he said. The N610i-H supplied to Scancode is a five-colour configuration with CMYK plus double white, along with flexo units before and after the digital engine.
Raorane added that Domino’s approach goes beyond selling hardware. “Digital investment is significant and expectations are high. We carry out total cost of ownership exercises and provide trial sampling so customers are convinced technically and commercially before committing. A key factor for many is Domino’s direct service and support in India, which ensures uptime after installation,” he noted.
With Imprenta, Scancode aims to serve brand owners seeking agility in packaging, as regulatory changes such as GS1’s move to QR codes and sustainability demands accelerate the need for digital. The Domino hybrid installation positions Scancode among the early adopters of digital packaging in India, offering converters and brands a route to manage complexity and speed to market.
