The PrintWeek May 2023 issue is a must-read edition to find out who made the cut this year — who managed to hold onto their position after two particularly difficult years, and the surprise names who made it to the list this year.

Noel D’Cunha, managing editor, PrintWeek/WhatPackaging?, said, “After two dismal years for most companies, the print and packaging companies are returning to pre-Covid-19 levels. Some companies shone during the two Covid-19 years – packaging common features intertwined – relevance, impact, innovation, leadership, ambition and success.”

The Power 100 list ranks the top 100 newsmakers from the industry, who through their work made a mark in the industry in 2022.

The issue also features a list of the top 30 corrugators.

The issue also unveils the shortlist for the first Women to Watch Awards to be awarded to women achievers in the industry in 12 categories.

The issue pays tribute to Jose Joseph, the founder of Printers Castle in Ernakulam, who passed away on 15 January 2015. Plus, an interview with Biju Jose, who shares the history of Printers Castle and the legacy of Jose Joseph.

Falling print runs have forced those playing the offset craft to take the help of digital print service providers even in small cities.  In the case study section, Noel D’Cunha finds out how two digital printers in Jaipur and Jodhpur are reaping the benefits of affordable and fast production with less set-up and maintenance hassle, and produce what they want and when they want it.

In the Big Interview section, PrintWeek catches up with Frank Hornung, global CEO, Edelmann on the 110th anniversary in Chandigarh. The Edelmann India plant in Baddi which caters to the beauty, consumer brands and healthcare sector requires a lot of testing and precision.

In the CEO section, Sheena Parikh, joint managing director of TechNova, tells Noel D’Cunha, “Unexpected challenges can come from any quarter. Relying solely on low-profit margin jobs can be a risky strategy for print-packaging companies. Low-profit margin jobs may not be enough to sustain the business.”

The Mumbai Mudrak Sangh (MMS) hosted the sixth edition of its roundtable conference on 14 April 2023 at MCA Club, BKC, Mumbai. The interactions between eight expert leaders in eight different groups were centred around the theme: rethink, redesign and realign. PrintWeek brings the highlights.

These and more are in the May issue of PrintWeek.
