Powered by Kodak India, the 52-page album will be printed on a Kodak NexPress SX3300 at photo specialist Dina Color Lab in Chennai. The highlight of the photo album is, each and every copy of this special album has been personalised.

The objective was to showcase the power of print that offers the potential to develop new revenue streams with the technology, thus opening up new sectors previously not seen as "pure print".

Ramu Ramanathan, group editor of Haymarket Media India said, "The evolution of digital print has opened up new markets in India. It was clear, processing photos which was the domain of the photo lab has shifted to digital print. The digital camera was a catalyst to the change; as well as internet connectivity and broadband availability which radicalised front-end operations in print-land."

Over the years digital print firms have had the talent to spot this opportunity.

According to M Dinakaran, partner of Dina Color Lab, Chennai, photo albums will become more popular in the coming years due to the way technology has evolved, making it more professional in nature.

The analysis for the evolution of photobooks is best summarised by P N Raghuvir, vice president for marketing (CDG&GCG- India) and marketing manager retail solutions, Asia Pacific region for Kodak India. He said, "Today photographers and design studios are taking advantage of new technology to package their images and ideas in a articulate manner, allowing them to go beyond single images to tell a story and present their work, while adding new avenues to their profitability."
