PrintWeek Awards 2024: ITC Packaging and Printing Business wins Packaging Company of the Year - Folding Cartons (Large Volumes)

ITC plans an investment outlay of approximately Rs 20,000 crore over the next five years. According to Sanjiv Puri, ITC chairman and managing director, a third of the investment will be going into the paperboards and packaging business. What impressed the jury about ITC (in addition to its investment blueprint) is the deployment of intelligent design.

Some of the design trends included a shift from manual hologram stickers to holographic foil in incense sticks; reduction of embossing element next to the crease and moving the job from two-pass to one-pass in liquor cartons; replacement of metPET film from cartons with spot metallic ink; and because of the mastery with paperboard, the ability to lower the paperboard gsm.

As SN Venkataraman, the SBU Chief of the ITC Printing & Packaging Business told Team PrintWeek, “Every organisation goes through an evolution. The company has to reinvent itself every ten years.” And in the packaging business, ITC has reinvented itself seven times. No wonder they are the Packaging Company of the Year — Folding Cartons (Large Volumes).
