PrintWeek Awards 2022: Pragati Offset wins Book Printer of the Year (Specialty and Trade)

Pragati’s samples were all large-format books with multiple finishing options, printed on a Komori Lithone 740, on different specialty papers of varied grammages. Pre-press is Esko workflow and Kodak Trendsetter CTP in 250-lpi. The run length varies from 500 to 25,000 copies.

Pragati Offset: making new impressions

Jangala: The Mystical Jungles of India had gold screen printing, glossy back, hot foil stamping, spot gloss UV varnishing on multiple pages, and metallic beige ink in all section markers. The hard case cover is made from an orange binding paper finished with gold hot foil stamping.

It was presented in a clamshell case made with a beige cloth wrapper. 

Under the Mask by Himmat Shah contained the veteran artist’s work created during the pandemic. To highlight this, the book has a blue surgical mask pasted on the hardcover case. The book is bound with the book block pasted only to the back cover, and it is finished with blue spray coated page edges, and the spine reinforced with cloth.

Operation CRUE is a fan creation which imagines the rock band Motley Crue as being undercover agents. The deluxe edition contains a hardcover graphic novel, posters of the four band members, a map and an aeroplane manual. All these are placed in a clamshell case made to look like a transportation box. The clamshell is made with a metPET laminated wrapper. 

Amrutham has a hard case covered with printed cloth, which was done with an extra bump orange to achieve the punch and brightness on cloth. It comes with a clamshell box where the holders are wrapped with antique gold paper and the case is wrapped with blue geltex. \
