PrintWeek Awards 2022: Kumar Labels wins Label Printer of the Year (Wet-glue)

The Night Cap label for JS Boisson India was printed on a primer coated, art gloss paper laminated to metallised PET. Printing consisted of heavy deposition of green colour, with luster powder to give a lustrous effect. To enhance and highlight the Owl and the brand name in white and lacquer gold respectively, Kumar Labels used very fine registered screen printing on its offline screen printing machine. The sensory white gave a simple yet very vibrant look, said one judge.

The Amrut Amalgam label had a specific requirement. The task was to achieve dense black colour on the border and the brand name. The company ran three shots of black, one after another with matt coating. The barcode was printed on a different print unit to control the flow of ink, and keep the barcode unfilled, a common issue faced while printing on uncoated paper. The judges did not miss the fine lines of hot foiling produced to perfection on the logo.

The Devans Gianchand label was printed on 120gsm uncoated paper, finely grained to give a beautiful touch and feel using heavy solid deposition of buff colour in the background. Post which, two shots of black on the brand name and one shot of black on the other areas. The signature on the label is the most alluring part, said another judge. The precise hot foil running over a large area – delivering straight lines. 

The Indri label is another fine show of decoration on an uncoated paper, with fine graining of entire background giving it a premium texture. The shots of black and double pass hot foiling, plus the word Indri and Trini- The Three Wood, was done in a single pass through a 3D block.
