PrintWeek Awards 2022: CDC Printers wins Book Printer of the Year (Education)
Recently, CDC Printers added 50,000-sqft of additional working space to its existing facility, plus purchased a number of equipment, especially for the post-press segment. These include two Bindlines with Freedom 5K perfect binding, Signa Gatherers and Trimit trimmers from Impel; one Eterna automatic foil stamping machine from Suba; one automatic flute laminator from Robus; one pre-owned case-maker from Kolbus; and one pre-owned 4+4 SM102 perfecting machine from Heidelberg.

The investment has paid off, as the winning samples clearly displayed. All the four samples had special post-press enhancements, ranging from spot glitter UV to spot UV to back-to-back pasting. As the books are for children, in some cases corners of the book have been rounded to make it child-safe. The books are printed on a Diamond 1000 press and a Heidelberg SM 102 on paper stock ranging from 120-gsm Maplitho to 400-gsm Cyber XL stock.
Kieur & Glittersticker Boek for Cuberdon Books has stickers on gumming sheets in the inside pages along with pictures for children to colour on. The cover has gloss lamination with spot glitter UV. The colour pages had gloss varnish and the sticker sheets had glitter UV. The print length is 25,000 copies.
Enciclopedia de los Dinosaurios for Ediciones Saldana SA had gloss lamination on the cover with soft foam binding. The print length is 15,000 copies.
Animais de todo o Mundo for Hema had soft foam binding while the cover had spot UV on matt lamination. The four-colour inside pages have gloss lamination. The pages of Le Tresor de Noel for Hema are passed back-to-back. The cover had gloss lamination. It also came with sturdy hard case binding. The print length was 15,000 copies.
