PrintWeek Awards 2022: Arihant Enterprise wins Packaging Converter of the Year (F&B)

Arihant Enterprise, the Vasai-based packager presented four packaging samples which impressed the judges.

Arihant produced two samples for the customer Whole Truth Foods, both produced using mono cartons for dark chocolate and milk chocolate. For the dark chocolate, the brand want the package to be more than just a secondary packaging for transportation of the product, said Arihant.

The brief for the dark chocolate packaging was: make the packaging thought-provoking, descriptive, aesthetically premium and appeal to a rather mature audience. The packaging revealed selective processing, from separation to process registration and print. Printed five-colour Heidelberg press, the cartons were also processed on offline Heidelberg anilox coater and screen printed using Sakurai silkscreen printing press for high-deposit embellishments. Two-lakh boxes for the dark chocolate were produced in less than seven days.

The mono carton for the milk chocolate, Arihant said, was an industry-first complicated packaging. The brand wanted a bold presence in a country where chocolates are overly consumed across various demographics. There was zero compromise on finishing. The packaging was printed using CMYK plus two special Pantone shades, followed by a coat for matte finish and a special colour foil which runs across the packaging. Spot gloss UV and 3D emboss/raised UV effect was created using offline screen printing process on all the branding elements.

For the Five Star Mix cartons, Arihant transformed the traditional packaging keeping the brand’s philosophy and illustrative aspect. The brand had been using low quality grey-back duplex board, but the company convinced the brand to be competitive with designing, printing and finishing to be at par with the best in the category. Each carton was matte laminated, screen printed for high-deposit embellishment. The design was processed with a CMYK plus one special Pantone colour. The result: the brand recorded increased sales with multiple repeat orders.

The fourth sample, Plantaway Cheddar Vegan Cheese box had the theme of nature and green was on the mind of brand. The brand had made explicitly clear about being 100% sustainable in every way. Hence, the cartons were printed on 300gsm Invercote Creato SBS paperboard with soft touch coating and the embellishment was screen printed.
